D'gamma Studios

Welcome to my recording & mixing studio!

I mix primarily in the box with plugins from some of the best brands, including SSL, Waves, Brainworx, Lindell, Melodyne, and Black Rooster Audio. I have plugins emulating gear that have made their way to countless platinum records, including Neve, SSL,and API gear, the gold standard 1176 and LA-2A compressors, and much more. My hardware highlights a dozen mics, including a modded large diaphram tube mic (check it out below), a Beyerdynamic M 201 TG (a detailed a clear dynamic mic for vocals, voiceovers, and instruments), a tube channel strip for that coveted warm sound, and more. I also have several virtual instruments, including Synthmaster 2, Playbox, studio quality sampled pianos, orchestral instruments, drum kits, UJam's Carbon (virtual guitarist), UJam's Rowdy (virtual bassist), and more.

The wood panel walls give my studio energetic, clean recordings, and my monitors and subwoofer are calibrated and opimally placed for the best mixing environment. I might have enough space to squeeze a small band in, but it would be better to take my 16 channel audio interface and remotely record in a bigger space. In studio, I'm best equipped for recording just a few tracks at a time.

I don't adverstise anymore but I still do this on the side because I love making music. So unless I get too booked, I'll run some discounts for now. In most cases, prices are by project.

Per Song:
Recording* | $480 ($200 when I can) | Up to 8hrs studio time/song
Mixing | $240 ($100 when I can) | Up to 8 mixes per song
Mastering | $120 ($50 when I can) | Up to 3 masters per song

Additional Discounts:

* Book recording time in 4 and 8 hour blocks. If you book recording 8 songs, you have 64 hours of studio time available. If you don't use all the time, it'll still cost 8 songs. If you need more time, feel free to book additional recording time as additional songs ($480 for 8hrs, or $200 if I can manage it). I may be able to book additional time to finish recording songs in cheaper 4hr blocks, but that will only ocassionally be available.

Modded Large Diaphram Condenser Tube Mic
In my studio, this wonderful mic is the centerpiece. The mods improved the warmth of the mic, improved it's frequency response, and reduced noise. It hosts the same 6072 type vacuum tube found in mics like the AKG C12 and the Telefunken Ela M 251E, and it hosts a 32mm capsule with the same style as the Neve U67. The result is a warm, detailed mic, with an incredibly smooth frequency response, a beautiful richness, and a hint of air.

I have a few more pieces of equipment laying around, I may get more equipment not listed, and equipment may suddenly become unavailable, but I'll do my best to communicate with you and make sure we have everything to get the job done right. I'm also working on the repair of a few vintage pieces of equipment, and I will try to update this once those repairs are complete. I'm working on a Tascam m-216 from the 80s right now. It sounds great in mixdown, but a few channels need work. I have more plug-ins too.

First Ridgeland Christmas 2021

I mixed the Christmas songs for First Ridgeland Baptist Church in 2021. We recorded on a Monday and Wednesday like it was live, with about 3 takes for each song. I finished mixing by that Friday night to run on local TV, so it was rushed with plenty of mistakes to hide. This marks one of my steps transitioning from working as a live sound engineer into the world of the recording studio.

While I'm not currently advertising myself as a producer, I do have experience in songwriting and sound design. I made the following track for fun several years ago using my piano plug-ins, synths, and a drum sampler.
